Romanian Design Week, the biggest event for Romania's creative industries, is happening in Bucharest from May 24 to June 2. The theme is "Unlock the City."
The festival scheduled for 2024 has set its sights on investigating the impact of creativity and innovation on the cities of the future. Additionally, it aims to uncover the potential, various layers, creative hubs, and cultural projects that animate Bucharest.
The program for the 12th edition aims to inspire people to discover the distinctive creative aspects of different urban areas, discover innovative design initiatives, and explore collaborative approaches. It will also encourage active engagement in shaping spaces for discussion, highlighting the importance of collective imagination and co-creation in fostering a more inclusive city.
RDW 2024 seeks to play a role in re-establishing connections between the people of Bucharest and their city, with a particular focus on its communities. This rediscovery aims to highlight the untapped potential of local creative industries.
Last year, a new approach was initiated to gather and promote many good projects, which were validated by representatives of the industries they belong to. This year, the RDW Exhibition format is bringing together more than 150 local specialists from the RDW Community and six teams of local and international curators for the selection process. This process aims to connect as many specialists as possible with the current architecture and design scene in Romania, to raise the standards of local projects.
